Ryanair subscription
On 24 March 2025 Ryanair introduced a new annual membership scheme. It’s called “Prime” (How original! 🙄) Frequent flyers who are members of Prime will be entitled to:
- Free reserved seats
- Free travel insurance
- Access to 12 annual member-exclusive seat sales (one booking a month)
The airline claims that passengers can save £420 on 12 flights a year and £105 on 3 flights.
Dara Brady, Chief Marketing Officer at the Dublin-based airline, said:
Ryanair has been delivering the lowest fares (and the best services) in Europe for the last four decades, and we’re now extending our price leadership with the launch of our exciting new subscriber discount scheme.”
You can see why he is the Chief Marketing Officer, I’m not sure many people would agree that Ryanair provides the best service.
This may be a good offer for some but do check the terms and conditions and don’t get caught out. The travel insurance, for example, does not cover pre-existing medical conditions. You must declare them or risk invalidating the insurance if you claim for an unrelated illness.
I asked my followers on social media what they thought. The reaction was mixed:
There’s always a risk flying with Ryanair. We are seeing an increase in the number of people being wrongly charged at the airport for cabin luggage, with video evidence of bags fitting the measurements. Securing a refund for beleaguered Ryanair passenger who was overcharged is one example with details of how to get your money back if you have incorrectly charged.
