Paul Leslie fighting for equality

Paul Leslie is the Chief Executive Officer of Rights and Equalities in Newham (REIN), a local organisation which works with adults and young people to create a more equal society through: Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) awareness raising, challenging disproportionality and systemic inequality and delivery of community projects and activities. His previous CEO roles include leading infrastructure organisations in Haringey and Waltham Forest which supported grassroots groups and charities to build capacity and increase sustainability.

Paul has a background in youth and community work, achieving his professional qualification in Cheshire (Manchester University). He has a degree from the University of East London. Paul has spent the last 35 years working with and for young people in both statutory and voluntary sector settings, mostly in London but also across the UK and internationally.

Paul works collaboratively with many statutory sector partners. He is currently a member of the Health Equity Learning Community; Community Safety Partnership, a co-opted member of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Chair of Newham Independent Advisory Group (NIAG) and chair of the Stop and Search monitoring committee (CMG).

Paul is also a board member of Community Transport Waltham Forest.

Paul is passionate about education as a route to increasing life chances for young people. He is a governor of Heathcote School, the current chair of Sarah Bonnell School Local Governing Board and the chair of Newham Community Learning (NCL) trust board, a Multi-Academy Trust of six schools, responsible for more than 5,000 students.
