Sarah Vagerson and Pantry Shelf

Sarah is the founder of Pantry Shelf, a zero waste shop dedicated to helping consumers reduce packaging waste and shop more sustainably. Through Pantry Shelf, she encourages people to make environmentally friendly choices while supporting local communities and reducing unnecessary waste.

In this episode of the East London The Complaining Cow Consumer Show, consumer rights expert Helen Dewdney talks to Sarah about setting up Pantry Shelf, the challenges of running a zero waste business, sustainable shopping, reducing household waste and how small changes can make a positive environmental impact.

Sarah Vargerson (nee Brumby) runs Panty Shelf based in Emerson Park, Havering which aims to make living sustainably accessible. This zero waste shop stocks loose dried refills and eco-friendly cleaning products.

Pantry Shelf encourages customers to refill containers & simply buy as much as they need to help reduce plastic packaging and keep food waste to a minimum.

Many products are on a closed loop system, meaning large containers are returned to our suppliers when empty to be reused time again and again. Stocking locally made produce and UK made cheeses Pantry Shelf is able to support other companies creating great products on its doorstep. Orders placed on the website www.pantryshelf.co.uk are delivered weekly by 100% Zero Emission Electric Van. There is also a popular workshop calendar of in store events such as coffee tastings and sustainable floral crafts available to book online working with local suppliers who share similar values.
