Man in high vis jacket measuring potholeMark Morrell is better known as Mr Pothole.

He is the nation’s most well known anti-pothole campaigner.

Campaigning for nearly ten years now, Mr Pothole started his campaign with a local Facebook page about dangerous Potholes on the A422 in Northamptonshire. This got him local media coverage and then national. He even took a tank to the Department of Transport in London in the Channel 5 documentary “Pothole Britain”. As the expert on potholes Mr Pothole has also been in the ITV documentary on Britain’s failing roads. He now appears across local, regional and nation media outlets on a regular basis, including BBC, ITV, SKY, GBNEWS etc. Always called upon to give his expert opinion in hundreds of radio interviews and has been featured in national and local newspapers.

 

 

Mr Pothole’s main goals are to:

  • assist people get better roads throughout the UK
  • pressurise Government for better funding for highways authorities and to
  • highlight when highways authorities are not doing what they legal require to do.

National Pothole Day was set up eight years ago by Mr Pothole which has been successful in highlighting the major issue of Potholes on our roads. He has been responsible for having had millions of pounds of repairs and resurfacing works carried out often using legal notices under the Highways Act to get results. His submitted evidence to the Transport Select Committee which is included in their report ” Filling the Gap”.

I regularly appear on television and radio discussing potholes, road safety, motoring complaints and compensation claims. Below, Mr Pothole and I are on BBC Breakfast discussing pothole damage, motorists’ rights and how drivers can complain and seek compensation.
